Re: Patrick Moore Sentenced to 5 Years Prison for Vehicular Homicide
A 46-year-old Arvada man was sentenced to five years in prison yesterday for running over Mario Draves Santiago-Bumbico, 22, in September, 2006. Following trial in October, a Jefferson County jury found Patrick Daniel Moore guilty of Vehicular Homicide and Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death. Moore also pled guilty to two counts of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol.
 Moore was sentenced to five years in prison for Vehicular Homicide-DUI, two years in prison for Hit and Run resulting in Death, and one year in jail for DUI. The sentences will be served concurrently and followed by a five year parole period.
On September 26, 2006 Moore drove into an accident scene, at 64th and Sheridan where he hit and killed Mario Santiago-Bumbico. Moments before, Santiago-Bumbico had begun to turn left in front of another vehicle and caused a collision with that vehicle. He was riding a motor scooter. As Santiago-Bumbico sat up in the roadway, looking slightly dazed, everything in the intersection came to a stop, except for Moore. Witnesses say Moore ran over Santiago-Bumbico and then kept going. Arvada police were at Moore?s house when he arrived and he was arrested at that time. |
